Oyster Takes Southampton Boat Show 2018 By Storm

Earlier this month, Oyster Yachts took Southampton Boat Show 2018 by storm with our bustling hospitality area and beautiful Oyster 575 bluewater cruising yacht on display.

So many different parts of Oyster came together to help run the show, with Sales Directors Richard Gibson and Steve Parkinson supported by members of our project management team, our commercial team, our events team and even our US brokerage team. Every person who participated helped to make it a success.

Strong Oyster presence at Southampton Boat Show 2018

Southampton Boat Show has always been a hugely important Oyster Yachts event - especially being a British brand with a Southampton base - and this year was no different. Throughout the 9 days the show ran for our hospitality marquee was extremely busy, filled with a mixture of prospective clients, current Oyster owners and their families and friends and Oyster employees.

The atmosphere was incredible, and we were delighted to have the opportunity to show our Oyster Family - old and new - how much they mean to us. We sent all of our owners an open invitation to drop in and join us for a glass of Champagne and some nibbles, and it was great to see so many friendly and familiar faces.

We were also lucky to be able to present one of our beautiful Oyster 575 heritage vessels at the 2018 Southampton Boat Show. A perfect example of our classic teak interiors and very tastefully decorated by her owners, she was admired by everyone from prospective clients to passers by - the ‘Yacht of the Show’ for sure.

New British and International prospects

We met a number of new prospects from the UK and further afield. Southampton being one of the premier Northern European boat shows, approximately 20% of people we spoke to had travelled internationally to attend. The show was a good opportunity to introduce those who didn’t already know us to the Oyster brand.

On the first Friday of the show we held a meet and greet session with company CEO Richard Hadida, which was a chance for everyone who hadn’t met him yet to chat face to face. Our CCO Paul Adamson also hosted an Oyster World Rally presentation on the same day on the Southampton boat show main stage. Here, we filled the yachting community in on what the events of the World Rally so far and built up excitement for the next one in 2021 which is set to include a leg of Mediterranean sailing.

Oyster Yachts events on the horizon

We’ve just finished our 41st Oyster Regatta in Palma, which saw 27 Oyster yachts race in and around Palma by day, and their owners and families getting together for luxurious dinners and vibrant parties by night.

As such the next big yacht show that Oyster will attend is the Düsseldorf International Boat Show in January, where we plan to take our stunning Oyster model 675. We hope to see you there!
