Captain

Alex Gurd

Growing up Alex took to dinghy’s as his first introduction to sailing. Upon graduating with a Degree in Business Management he took particular interest in the leisure industry.

Combining this with his passion for the ocean, Alex pursued a career on yachts. Before joining the Oyster family Alex ran charters around the Mediterranean. Working aboard an Oyster 655 Alex assumed the role of Captain where he managed a refit before sailing with the yachts owners around the Mediterranean and across the Atlantic. He also delivered an Oyster 575 from Panama, through the Galápagos and across the Pacific to Tahiti. Alex’s strong passion for sailing and experience crossing oceans helped him gain an extensive knowledge of Oysters yachts. Alex takes pride in ensuring his guests are always having fun and feel included in an exciting sailing itinerary. Alex enjoys being outside engaged in an active lifestyle, asides from sailing he is often skiing, kitesurfing or free diving. He met his partner Philippa whilst doing his Yachtmaster qualifications.
