Oysters in Bermuda
Drinks and canapés, Marion to Bermuda Race, America’s Cup Superyacht and J Class Regattas, along with the announcement of the Oyster Regatta Bermuda 2018 makes June a very busy month for Oyster.
In the Marion to Bermuda Race 2017 three Oysters took part with Bermuda Oyster, an Oyster 435, coming third in Class C and winning the Oyster Mini-Class Trophy. Click here to see the full results of the race. The Oyster 54, Mahina Kai managed to make the most of the light conditions during the race and even brought out the fine china for an elegant al fresco dinner, not often seen during these events. The Oyster 47, Skellum, unfortunately had to retire and motor to the finish line, along with many other yachts, due to the light airs but all enjoyed the event.
The 41st Oyster Regatta, will be welcomed to Bermuda by the island’s Tourism Authority in 2018 whose Chief Executive has committed his team to giving the fleet a wonderful combination of glorious sailing and fine dining on this historic island. Also welcomed by the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, we have mapped out a programme that will offer four days of Corinthian racing around three different parts of the island. More details will be posted closer to the event on the regatta page here.
This will include a rally programme to encourage yachts to cruise in company starting with the ARC this November to parts of the Caribbean and an option to use the 2nd Antigua-Bermuda race (a 'cruising' race which was first held this year) as a passage in company. Also we are arranging a special rate deck cargo option for up to ten Oysters to ship from Bermuda to Genoa after the event.
In June this year a dozen Oysters descended on the island to enjoy the Americas Cup festivities and met at the Hamilton Princess which overlooks the stunning blue waters of the Hamilton Harbour, for drinks and canapés with David Tydeman, Oyster CEO.
Oyster's connection with Bermuda does not just stop with our yachts. We are proud to be a part of history with four of the Southampton Yacht Services, refit majestic titans, Velsheda, Shamrock V, Leopard and Sojana taking part in the America's Cup Superyacht and J Class Regattas in Bermuda this month. You can read more about their refits here.
