It was a celebratory event for Oyster Yachts on the first day of the Yachtmarket.com Southampton Boat Show with a remarkable double win in the 2017 Sailing Today Awards.
Awarded with first place in the Luxury Cruiser Category, the new Oyster 565 was commended with the top spot after being nominated as Best Luxury Cruiser. Designed with heritage and quality with a Superyacht feel, the 565’s versatility, style and reputation of being the perfect family yacht all played a key part to ensure recognition from admiring voters to make her a very worthy winner of such an accolade. With 6 sold in the last 4 months, the Oyster 565 is proving to be very popular.
The Oyster 565 joins many Oyster models in the 'trophy cabinet' who have received winning yacht titles and awards, including the Oyster 675 who was the landslide winner in the same category in last year’s Sailing Today Awards.
But is wasn’t just the yachts themselves receiving all the glory… Oyster CEO David Tydeman was announced winner of Sailing Today’s ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’.
David was nominated by an expert editorial panel in the Lifetime Achievement category, sponsored by The Little Ship Club, and awarded the outstanding title during the Sailing Today champagne reception on the first day of the UK’s largest Boat Show. Presenting the award, Tom Cunliffe commented …."This year’s winner was a popular choice with the panel, and his impact on the British Marine industry cannot be overstated. Taking the helm at Oyster back in 2008, David not only succeeded in steadying the ship, but also in building on the brand’s already sterling reputation."
Speaking to Sailing Today’s Editor Sam Jefferson, the Oyster CEO expressed his thanks to the panel and to the team in Oyster saying… "without whom this wouldn't have been possible, many thanks to all".

And the first day excitement didn’t stop there for Oyster, as the largest sailing yacht on display - the Oyster 745, stole the sailing show in more ways than one when the fashion, fitness and beauty icon Millie Mackintosh stepped on-board after officially opening the show. Millie can be seen posing for the cameras and media on the newly launched Oyster 745 Pitanga which will also be on display at the Düsseldorf boat show in January.
