A Naval Architect and a background in Shipbuilding, Offshore Oil and Gas projects and latterly CEO of Skanska plc construction, David brings governance from a breadth of experience from multi-disciplined contracting industries. A passionate and successful racing yachtsman ranging from Fastnet and Sydney Hobart classics to Melges 24 World Championships, David first met the founder of Oyster 30 years ago and has led the Company since it was sold to investors in 2008. A yacht designer at heart, he also leads the business development activities of the group.
Over 30 years in the marine industry having joined Southampton Yacht Services in 1983, Harvey is recognised as the best engineer in the company and a safe pair of hands to run all of the yacht building and refit operations across both Shipyards. A depth of knowledge derived from a very wide range of new builds and major refits including many well-known yachts, Velsheda, Altair, Thendara, Cambria, Sojana and Mari-Cha III. Other business interests have included a power electronics distribution company and a specialist furniture manufacturer.
Simon has worked as a senior finance professional across a number of SME, private equity and listed companies and joined Oyster in 2014. Complementing the technical and commercial skills of his senior colleagues with a strong project finance approach to the governance of Oyster, treating each build as a separate P&L and cash project, Simon rapidly secured the confidence of shareholders and auditors and developed a new finance team as part of the relocation of Oysters HQ to Southampton at the time he joined the Company.
Having started sailing on the east coast from an early age, Richard progressed from racing dinghies and keelboats into ocean sailing, and can now often be found assisting our owners at various regattas and events around the world. Having worked within various sectors of the marine industry since leaving university, Richard has a background of yachting experience that greatly assists his ability to guide clients with credible knowledge and advice.
Stephen joined Oyster in 2002 following a career in finance. Initially working in our After Sales department, he then progressed into Project Management before joining the Sales team in 2013. A keen sailor with over 30,000 miles under his belt, Stephen has a wealth of Oyster knowledge and his passion and enthusiasm make him a key member of the new boat Sales team. Stephen also enjoys family life with two young daughters.
Dan joined Oyster’s Newport office in 2011 following a career with a leading international brokerage. Prior to coming ashore he held various positions aboard, starting in 2003 and culminating with his captaincy of S/Y Argo, a 110’ Langan Design Schooner. While at sea, Dan completed crossings of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, and accumulated over 50,000 miles of blue-water cruising experience, including extensive landfalls and oversight of several major refits. Dan is married with a young son and resides in Jamestown, Rhode Island.
Mark Durham has recently joined the Oyster team after working as a Yacht Captain for 12 years. In addition to over 100,000 sea-miles, including the Southern Ocean and Antarctica, he brings with him the experience of having sailed and run a number of private and charter run Oyster yachts worldwide. Today, Mark is looking forward to ensuring the satisfaction of both owners and crew as Operations Director in Palma de Mallorca.
Steve has enjoyed boating from a very early age and came into the Marine Industry in the early 90`s following premature retirement after 18 years as a Firefighter. Initially with Splashdown Marine Clothing and Simpson-Lawrence, he joined Hunton Powerboats in 1998 as installation engineer, becoming General Manager in 2002. Joining the Oyster Service & Refit Department in 2011, he has been responsible for a number of major refit projects across the Oyster range both in the Southampton yard and overseas. Steve joins the Palma team as Service Manager as of the 1st August 2017.
Before Oli could even walk he was taken sailing by his father on their open boat. He has enjoyed sailing in many guises, be it at yacht regattas, dinghy sailing or classic yacht racing. With a keen and active interest in all things mechanical and a lust for travel, the opportunity to crew as Engineer on an Oyster 655 as part of the inaugural Oyster World Rally was a dream come true. Following the World Rally Oli was promoted to Skipper and managed the yacht for over a year. Oli's solid sailing background, plus the knowledge gained from spending 14 months circumnavigating the world on board an Oyster yacht, has altogether given Oli the wealth of experience that he now brings to his role as Guardienage Captain for the Oyster Service Centre, Ipswich.
Will grew up in Bristol, Rhode Island and from a young age spent every free moment out on the water. Later he worked his way up from deckhand to engineer and finally captain. After running an Oyster 56 for Oyster’s founder, Richard Matthews, Will joined our USA office in Newport, Rhode Island, and has spent the last 12 years helping our US based owners with their commissioning and customer service enquiries.
During her travels Mandy discovered her passion for sailing working on yachts in the Caribbean and on several delivery’s, including two transatlantic passages. Returning to the UK she consolidated her interest by studying for a BSc Yacht Manufacturing & Surveying, and has worked in the marine industry ever since. As well as providing Warranty service for our Southampton built yachts, Mandy is now managing any Service Work and Gardienage requirements Southampton’s visiting Oysters may have.
Jamie joined Oyster Brokerage having run a well established brokerage office in Palma for four years. Having worked in the Marine trade since he was 18, Jamie has raced all over the world competing in the Admirals Cup to winning Key West Race Week. More recently sailing on the Superyacht Cup circuit where the racing is of a more leisurely style. Other than racing he has acquired an in-depth knowledge of sailing yachts, sails and hardware from working with some of the best in the industry.
Nephew of Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, to whom he owes his early sailing experience, Rupert first joined Oyster Brokerage in 2001. He previously worked in sales for Prout Catamarans and prior to that as a skipper and instructor for Sunsail both in the UK and the Mediterranean, following university. A former offshore multihull racer, Rupert is now more interested in family cruising.
Tom started sailing at six months old, suspended from the gooseneck of his parents' Norfolk dinghy in a bosuns chair. From there he progressed into dinghy and yacht racing, waterskiing and powerboat racing. His career in the marine industry began with Jeckells Sails in Wroxham, from where he moved to Fox's Yacht Sales in Ipswich, selling Beneteau yachts before joining Oyster Brokerage in 2007.
Molly Marston began her yachting career as crew aboard charter yachts for 10 years giving her useful insight into the industry.
In 1996 she joined Oyster Marine, being instrumental in the development of the Newport Oyster office from its startup. In 2004 Molly implemented the charter division for Oyster and currently manages the company world-wide from her Newport base.
With attention to detail Molly ensures all aspects of a charter are handle with the utmost care. Molly is passionate about sailing and takes pride ensuring all guests experience the thrill of sailing on an Oyster.
